Gas work is not general handyman work. In Texas, running or repairing a gas line is licensed-only, permit and inspection requirements depend on the scope and jurisdiction, and getting it wrong is dangerous. If you have been quoted for gas line work and nobody mentioned a permit, get a second opinion.
